The privatisation of TAFE
in South Australia
Updated: 17 February 2021
Premier Steven Marshall has announced his Government is likely to favour private vocational providers over TAFE. Premier Marshall is unapologetic in his Government's continued privitisation agenda for South Australia.
By allowing the Department of Innovation and Skills to direct the Government funding for vocational education and training for South Australians to private training providers, some of which may be interstate based training providers, Premier Marshall is allowing private businesses to profit off our community.
This is privatisation by stealth and ultimately it will be the South Australian community who pays.
TAFE SA has successfully delivered quality vocational education and training to metropolitan and regional South Australians for many years. TAFE SA also continues to be the preferred training provider for many industry areas across the state, with the educational staff continuing to develop and deliver innovative programs that meet employer demands now and in the future.
Cutting access to funding for TAFE SA compromises South Australians’ access to quality education in preparation for future employment.
It’s time for everyone to speak up to save TAFE. It’s time to stop Marshall’s TAFE cuts!
