Branch Executive

The affairs of the South Australian Branch are under the control of Branch Executive within the policies and direction set down by Branch Council. Branch Executive meets three times during school term time to give effect to decisions of Branch Council, deal with matters referred by committees or sub-branches and generally manage the affairs of the Branch.

Branch Executive is comprised of the Branch President, Female and Male Vice-Presidents and Branch Secretary who are paid officers of the union, and sixteen Executive members made up of a member elected by and from each of SSO, TAFE, Children’ Services and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander members and twelve members representing DECD teacher and leader members. At least six of the twelve members representing DECD teacher members must be women.

The Branch President is responsible for making public statements on behalf of the union and presides at all meetings of Branch Executive and Branch Council. The President exercises a casting vote at meetings.

Members of Branch Executive are also members of Branch Council.
