On the eve of “Wear it purple day” we are hosting an afternoon event to discuss LGBTIQ+ diversity and inclusion in public education.
From preschool to high school and TAFE gender diversity is an issue facing students, staff and families. It is an area in which we can make a difference to student’s lives. This safe space workshop is specifically to ask questions and discuss support for gender and sexually diverse students. What toilets can they use? How should I refer to them? What can we do to help? How can we connect and learn more to do more for the LGBTIQ+ community in public education.
These workshops have been mapped against the following Australian Professional Standards for Teachers:
4.4 Maintain student safety
6.2 Engage in professional learning and improve practice
7.1 Meet professional ethics and responsibilities
7.4 Engage with professional teaching networks and broader communities
