New Workplace Representatives Course - online
A Union Training course recommended for newly elected Sub-Branch Secretary or Workplace Representatives.

Open to :

AEU Reps who have not previously attended the AEU SA 2 day union education course. (Strongly recommended for newly elected workplace reps/SBS)

Dates and Times:

Session 1: Wednesday 9 September 2020 from 4.00pm - 6.00pm
Session 2: Wednesday 21 October 2020 from 4.00pm - 6.00pm
Sessions will held via Zoom.

Cost:

Free

Aim:

To develop the knowledge and skills of union representatives both in terms of industrial and practical information, consultation methods and processes.

Objectives: 

  • Discuss union values at their site.
  • Build understanding of union values.
  • Increase knowledge regarding meeting procedure, ethical consultation and union processes. Including PAC and Merit processes.
  • Identify members at the site and map membership data.
  • Invite staff to join their union.
  • Build democratic communication structures.

What is it?

These short sessions are designed to allow new union representatives the opportunity to learn more about their role as an AEU rep.

This course has been mapped against the following Australian Professional Standards for Teachers 

7.1 Meet professional ethics and responsibilities
7.2 Comply with legislative, administrative and organisational requirements
7.4 Engage with professional teaching networks and broader communities

Lunch, relief staff and travel assistance are all provided by the AEU SA when required.
